D. Johnson, father of Zach Johnson speaking about his sons Chiropractic care

“I’ve always known that chiropractic care improves function and balance and reduces pain associated with the grind of repetitive movement and high-speed movement in the golf swing” says Dr. Johnson. “However, since Zach has been on the tour, I have seen first- hand how much professional golfers rely on chiropractic care.”

Tiger Woods on Chiropractic Care

“Lifting weights and seeing a chiropractor on a regular basis has made me a better golfer. I’ve been going to chiropractors for as long as I can remember. It’s as important to my training as practicing my swing.

Those under Network care report fewer days in the hospital, less stress, more life enjoyment, and the list goes on.

Golf is a demanding sport. In fact its is considered just as demanding as martial arts, football or hockey. Here are a couple statistics from exercise physiologist Dr. Greg Wells to really bring home what you put your body through when out there on the course.

“during the swing the average male recruits 30 pounds of muscle and uses nearly every single joint in the body to produce 2,000 pounds of force in less than 0.2 seconds.”

80% of the PGA utilizes Chiropractor

80% of golfers suffer from injuries form the sport and most of which are back pain.

Why your Golf Game needs Network Care

“I’ve always known that chiropractic care improves function and balance and reduces pain associated with the grind of repetitive movement and high-speed movement in the golf swing” says Dr. Johnson. “However, since Zach has been on the tour, I have seen first- hand how much professional golfers rely on chiropractic care.”

Lets get right to the point. Chiropractic, especially Network Chiropractic will help your golf game -considerably. You will have more days of ease in your body, mind, health and swing. You can spend all the money on clubs and coaching but the truth is that if your body is under tension, you have a few things to work out before any of those upgrades will do you any good.

Golf is an extremely complex game where one millimeter makes all of the difference and an enormous amount of force is placed on the body.

“Golf is a physically demanding game that requires explosive power, but at the same time, incredible precision and complexity,” says exercise physiologist Dr. Greg Wells. “For example, during the swing the average male recruits 30 pounds of muscle and uses nearly every single joint in the body to produce 2,000 pounds of force in less than 0.2 seconds.”

This is why

When your body is storing tension (stress that doesn’t leave) you are putting pathological force on your joints, you have an uneven distribution of force in your muscle groups, and your nerves become desensitized. In addition to these muskuloskeletal and nerve changes; Have you ever noticed that, when you are stressed, your mind is less clear, and your emotions are a little, shall we say, edgy? There are physiological reasons for these changes (we host an amazingly informative and free event at our office that explains this). All of these are symptoms of stress physiology.

What we know is that over time (unless you live in a sheltered world) your body and mind become more built for warrior mode than living mode. When you go out on the course, this doesn’t turn off with a few deep breaths. If you have ever had a hard time truly relaxing on the course, then you likely are playing under stress physiology.  If you have chronic pain in your body, and you are worn down after a game, you are likely playing under the wrong conditions.

When under stress physiology conditions, uneven tensions in the body are off the radar; it is as if somebody put a few grams of lead on the end of your driver without you knowing it. In addition, the desensitized nerves mean the you have less coherent information coming form body to brain and from brain to body; this means less awareness over what subtle adjustments that you need to make and less “fine” motor control to dial in those precision adjustments to you swing.

Have you ever noticed at the end of your swing, after the ball left the club that you knew it was no good? Imagine noticing that in the moment and being able to respond before your club made contact or in the split second that your club was in contact with the ball. Imagine that in that moment , you where able to pronate that wrist just enough to not over do it. This is the edge that PGA golfers are referring to when speaking about chiropractic.

It is like this, if you where going to take your car off roading, you’d make sure all of the bolts, wheels where lined up and lubed. You would also make sure that your mind was calm and you where well fed; your body is the same way.

Some believe that the pains, and aches in the body are a part of aging; such as old age and arthritis etc. The truth is that when your joints are unstable (misaligned) and under extreme tension with a heavy load of torque placed on them, your body will add bone over time along with other changes to stabilize the joint, this is what causes those affects associated with aging joints. Take care of your body and it will take care of you a lot longer.

This stress physiology not only affects the body, it also affects the mind and emotional state; if golf was all physical, it would be a lot easier. Being in a relaxed, strategic mind are key to a great game.

Jerry Rice- “Chiropractic care was key to keeping me in the game.”

Tiger Woods- “Being a Chiropractic patient has really helped me immensely…lifting weights and seeing a Chiropractor on a regular basis has made me a better golfer. I’ve been going to Chiropractors for as long as I can remember. It’s as important to my training as practicing my swing.”

Michael Jordan-“I didn’t know how much I could improve until I started seeing a chiropractor. Since I’ve been in chiropractic, I’ve improved by leaps and bounds, both mentally and physically.”

Evander Holyfield- “I have to have an adjustment before I go into the ring. I do believe in chiropractic. I found that going to a chiropractor three times a week helps my performance. The majority of boxers go to chiropractors to get that extra edge.”

Gerald Wilkins- “My shooting has improved because of chiropractic. I feel more balanced and have more coordination and control. Since I have been under chiropractic care, I have improved by leaps and bounds.”

Tom Brady- “Chiropractic just makes you feel so much better. When I walk out of the clinic, I feel like I’m about three inches taller and everything’s in place. And as long as I see the chiropractor, I feel like I’m one step ahead of the game.”

Usain Bolt- I’ve worked hard over the years. I've been injured and I've worked hard through it, and I've made it." Bolt uses chiropractic not only to bounce back more quickly from injuries, but also to enhance his performance while healthy. "As long as I'm in great shape, nobody beats me, for sure."

Emmit Smith- “Deep-tissue massage and chiropractic are now common treatment around the league. I started doing this about four or five years ago. I believe that what I’m doing is what helps me go on. So I’ve become a big believer in servicing my body and making sure it is lined up properly and functioning the way it is supposed to on Sunday. I go see my chiropractor when I get bent out of shape on Sundays. Playing in a football game is like being in 30-40 car accidents. It definitely helps me perform at a higher level.”

Arnold Schwarzenegger- “Bodybuilders and fitness people have been using chiropractic very extensively in order to stay healthy and fit. I found it was better to go to a chiropractor before you get injured. We are a perfect team – the world of fitness and the world of chiropractors.”

Lance Armstrong- “The team wasn’t just riders. It was the mechanics, masseurs, chefs, seigneurs, and doctors. But, the most important man on the team may have been the chiropractor.”
